Well I always thought it was going to be a tough game at home to Arsenal, especially after them being kicked out of Europe by Liverpool in midweek. When we went 1-0 down thanks to an obvious handball I thought it wasn’t going to be our day.
Then the moment that changed the match. Rio Ferdinand, facing his own goal, sees a cross come off his shin and head straight for the bottom corner. It looked like it was all over. Then, somehow, Van Der Sar stuck out a big right hand and pushed it wide. From that moment I knew we would go on and win it. 3 minutes later, Ronaldo fires his 38th goal of the season from the penalty spot. He hadn’t had a great game but stood up when it mattered. It was especially impressive considering the pressure after he was made to retake it after hitting the net the first time.
Eoin Hargreaves then wipped in an inch perfect free kick to give us the lead. It was a nervous last 20 minutes but the Reds held on by the skin of their teeth. This was a big win. We are now 6 points clear with Chelsea having to play twice in three days this week. We aren’t there yet but we are a little bit closer.
